SKI SET TRAIL AT EMERALD
The North side of the walking trail at Emerald(along by the avalanche path) and the trail UP TO the creek on the Alluvial Fan(North again) are pretty good for early ski set trails. The rest of the fan is not worth skiing yet–we trudged through it today but avoid it for now.
Still NOT enough snow to pack the trail by machine.
The lake is only frozen up near the front–between the avalanche path and the point cabin. GREAT reflection of the snowy lodge cabins –all black and white in the darkness of the lake. (no camera today-darn)
Snowshoeing is good—especially if you walk on either side of the ski set trail. And that also helps set a better base for the machine. Gotta love the mild weather.
Trail update Nov.19th
Hello fellows skier, Moraine Lake road, the old 1A and Tramline were groomed yesterday (Nov.18th) and loads of skiers were on the trails! It was perfect for classic and skating. There is a lot of new snow in the forecast, let’s hope our groomers can keep up… See you on the trails!
6″ of gorgeous powder !
Started to ski the Great Divide trail this AM (From the Ohara end)with 6″ of fresh powder, single ski-set trail AND…. along comes Jeff and Andrew with all the equipment to lay down a perfect double track. Fantastic! Could not be better. We got crusty sleet in Field. Should be a while yet for tracks at this elevation. Good thing the Divide is close.
Trail update,Nov.11-2012
Hello fellow skiers! Morraine Lake road and the Great Divide have been trackset last friday. The trails are in great condition. Green wax is recommended. I saw some large grizzli tracks on the GDivide trail near the BC/AB border yesterday, make noise when skiing around there! Happy skiing!
