Better late than….

KHSC would like to extend a belated THANK YOU to Helen Barry who operates The OLD CHURCH GUESTHOUSE in Field. Helen donated the door prize of 2 nights winter accommodation at our very successful dinner of March 3rd.
Also–on the same note—Jessica Stichelbout—our club coach deserves a THANK YOU for donating 2 x 2 x-c lessons for two of our 3 RAFFLE PRIZES. We still have a few tickets left at Emerald Sports & Gifts and the draw is April 1st!
Congratulations to Jessica for recently attaining her LEVEL 4 –the top teaching level in Cansi.
Her final event for the Ski Club this year is a moon light ski this Good Friday –the 29th at Emerald Lake at 8.30 pm.
It should be great weather for it. The tracks are holding up but getting glazed. The crust is getting more supportive everyday….you can ski skate at the back of the lake(on the crust of the lake) but the front is still dry snow and not crusty. But it’s coming……
Thank you again Helen and Jessica…..and our sincere apologies.
Skee ya later hey….. KHSC

CONGRATULATIONS MAGGIE & PAUL

Outstanding member—Maggie Fields from FIELD(yes) and her brother Paul from Winnipeg skied circles around the alluvial fan and back to Emerald Sports today(5 times with double loops) to make up 56 kms.(her age) !!!!
What a BIRTHDAY celebration that is!! Way to go guys —enjoy your private steam room and swiss fondue finish!!!! KHSC

Track setting on Tuesday

David did a track on the loop on the Alluvial Fan and around the lake on shore–with the shortest connections on the lake to get to shore. He also did 2 km. on the Connector.
The flats in Field are blown in but should be fine once you get into the trees. Really nice 2″ of powder and colder temps. Enjoy

Survey for 2013/2014 – Yoho is going to the Dogs

The Kicking Horse Ski Club is contemplating allowing dogs on all of our ski trails starting in the 2013/2014 season. The decision will be made based on feedback from the users of the trails, so please fill out the survey to cast your vote.

Of course Dogs need to be on a leash at all times in the National Parks and the owners must pick up after their dogs and dispose of it in the garbage bins. They should also put extra $$ in the donation boxes to help pay for resetting the trails more often. Maybe we’ll sell dog memberships? Who knows?

We will post comments next fall with the output of the survey, so pass this around to your skier friends/dog owners. And should it be that Dogs ARE allowed, it will be on a trial basis for the first year.

The survey can be found here.
