Dec. 30th @ the LAKE

All the trails at the lake were packed again and a track set—the Horse trail and Alluvial Fan Loop are DOUBLE TRACK SET and sweet as can be. Perfect with VR45 wax. Still slush on the lake. CONNECTOR done as well…..EXCELLENT WORK HANSI.
HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE.

TRAIL UPDATE & MEMBERSHIPS

The TAK. FALL ROAD got done yesterday–the 27th, and today Emerald got tracked again along with the South East side of the lake—still lot’s of slush on the lake–it won’t go away until we get -20 for 3 or 4 nights. The CONNECTOR (or is it now the Dis-Connector) got tracked also and it is marginal due to the snow being thin past the 5 km. down from the lake.
MEMBERSHIPS TO KHSC is only $10.00 this year………Jessica will be our coach again and will give you a blog soon on what is happening for January.
Buy your MEMBERSHIPS at the Field Post Office or at Emerald Sports & Gifts. Ski the last few days of the year and enjoy!

TRAIL UPDATE

It’s MILD—lovely to get out there. There are a few SLUSH AREAS on Emerald Lake!!! Best–and cooler snow–on shore. John was doing a few passes early this morning……THE FAN, THE HORSETRAIL & ONE LANE ON THE LAKE are all track set and beautiful. Hans did the KICKING HORSE FIRE ROAD FROM FIELD today. Enjoy the holidays……

NEW “temporary” X-C TRAIL

Hey skiers—-this has not happened in at least 15 years—-we now have a x-c groomed & TRACK SET trail on the South-East (the other side) of Emerald Lake !!!!!! It is tracked to the far bay and then joins the lake loop trail(on the ice). Seems like the rest of the trail up and over the 3 hills to the Peaceful Pond is packed but not track set(thank you Hans). It is fantastic to ski there again–as well as all the other regular trails at Emerald Lake. Thank you Hansi for doing such a great job….you will be impressed. Get out there while it’s peaceful, sunny and beautiful. The benches are all cleaned off and ready for you—do enjoy.  This East side trail is only temporary—conditions will dictate. Joyeux Noel……
Oh—and Hansi was at the Natural Bridge—doing the Tally Ho to the Info Center and I am sure he did the Kicking Horse also.
It’s gonna be a wonderful holiday season—-ski ski ski…..

TRAIL UPDATE

Lot’s of lovely snow–great for packing the trails. John was doing just that yesterday at Emerald and he set tracks all around–even did one pass along the Connector to the avalanche sign on the shoulder of Burgess. He feels it’s still pretty rough and need still more snow but is passable with caution. Trails at Emerald are wonderful.

Please note that ALL trails start on the lake now–to avoid the Avalanche Slide path.

Happy Holidays to everyone.
